NFC Experience
A New Shopping Experience, One Tap Away
Just hold your smartphone to the NFC tag embedded in every product. Authenticity verification, donation reports, and brand stories — instantly at your fingertips.
What Is NFC?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is a short-range wireless technology that exchanges data within about 10 cm. It is widely used in everyday life for transit cards and payment apps.
Most iPhones (iOS 14+) and Android devices support NFC out of the box — no special app required. Simply hold your phone near the product and your browser will automatically open a page unique to that item.
Three Simple Steps
Purchase
Buy your favorite item from the Origami Tokyo online store. Each product has a unique NFC tag sewn in.
Tap
Hold your smartphone to the NFC tag inside the garment. iPhone launches the NFC reader automatically; on Android, just make sure NFC is on. You will be taken to the authentication page instantly.
Experience
Authenticity verification, donation reports, brand stories, access to exclusive products — an experience reserved for owners begins here.
Technology That Makes Counterfeiting Impossible
Origami Tokyo's NFC tags use the NXP NTAG424 DNA chip. It employs SUN (Secure Unique NFC Message) authentication — a cryptographic protocol that generates a one-time-use cipher with every tap.
The server verifies each tap against a tag-specific master key, detecting copies, clones, and replay attacks. Unlike ordinary cloned tags, counterfeits are immediately flagged as fake on the authentication page.
Technical Highlights
- Signature verification via AES-128-CMAC
- Monotonic counter prevents replay attacks
- Tag auto-locks after 5 consecutive auth failures
- Master key stored server-side only
Making Animal Welfare Visible
Authentication is only part of the story. With a single tap, you can see exactly how much of your purchase was donated and to which animal welfare organization, including real project updates.
Taking donations out of the black box and building a transparent bridge between buyer and beneficiary — that is the Origami Tokyo NFC experience.
